Bob Across America

Bob Mueller is unicycling from Portland, Maine to Portland, Oregon to raise money for the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund.

Holiday on the Road

Yesterday was very warm, so we ended up taking a break during the hottest part of the day in beautiful Fair Haven, New York. The town itself was very quiet, but the grocery store and the entrance to the Fair Haven State Park buzzed with activity, people gearing up for cookouts and outdoor activities on their day off.

Honoring our country's fallen soldiers from Fair Haven.

We took our helmets off to all of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and all who have passed before. Happy Memorial Day!

Things are going well on the road. The flatter terrain has allowed Bob and Laura to really stretch their wings, so to speak – they’ve been hitting their highest daily mileage so far in the last few days. It’s also been very warm, so we’ve begun to schedule the ride around the sun, although no one’s taken the initiative to get up at 5am yet! A few more day of 90+ degree weather, and it’s bound to happen. In the meantime, eating delicious ice cream at local areas of interest must suffice.

Old time charm with modern conveniences (i.e., air conditioning).

We are very excited to hear from the folks over at the Red Cross that we have already received $1850 in generous donations! Thank you so much to everyone who’s helped get that ball rolling – and to everyone who decides to support ARC because of Bob Across America. Your (tax-deductible!) donations of every size are an enormous help, and enormously appreciated.

The athletes are happy and grateful.

As a postscript, I’d like to draw your attention to an article that ran in the Morning Sentinel (Waterville, Maine) a few days ago: Waterville Man Bikes For a Good Cause.

Glad all is well. You could send some of the warm weather here. It is sunny, but cool and breezy. Temps in the 60s. Hope to get the garden in this weekend. I think one or two of your younger siblings are coming over to get the leaves out of the bottom of the pool. It will be ready for you when you get back. Love you,
